What is Sequim in Bloom?
- A well-maintained home, business and landscape is a positive attribute, which should be encouraged. The purpose of the City of Sequim Beautification Program is to recognize and encourage beautification efforts.
- Sequim recognizes residents, businesses and local organizations who have enhanced the visual appeal of the community’s landscape. Winners will be announced on a semi-annual basis.
- There are two categories: Residential Beautification Award and Commercial Beautification Award.
WHAT IS THE GENERAL CRITERIA USED FOR JUDGING?
- Nominees must be located within the Sequim city limits
- Beautification award winners are judged based on the following:
- General appearance
- Use of Landscape
- Creativity
- Environmentally friendly practices
- Exhibit pride in their property
- Excellence in exterior upkeep and maintenance
- Neighborhood impact
- Effort (how hard and consistently the individual or group has worked to develop and maintain a project)
Entries will not be selected based on lavish architecture or professional landscaping. Instead, they will be selected on the pride and creativeness exhibited in the exterior of the home, as well as “street appeal,” i.e., what can be seen from the street by walking or driving by.
NOMINATIONS
- Nominations must be received by July 15 and December 15.
- Nominees must reside or be located within the Sequim city limits.
- You can nominate yourself.
- Before and after pictures must be submitted with the nominating form.
- The judges will visit the site.
AWARD WINNERS
Award winners will be listed on the City’s website and in the newsletter. They will also be honored at a City Council meeting and recognized at the annual recognition reception held in April.
Congratulations Sequim - Beautification Award Winners
The winners will receive a wooden plaque to place in their yard or window for a period of time. They will also receive a paper replica that may be placed in the window.
