The Department's Shoulder Patch

Sequim Police patch
The City of Sequim is located in the beautiful Sequim Dungeness Valley, surrounded by the majestic Olympic mountain range to the South and the blue waters of the Strait of Juan de Fuca to the North. Located directly across the Strait from the U.S. mainland is Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and the San Juan Island chain. The lights of Victoria, B.C. and many of the San Juan Islands are visible from various viewing points within Sequim.

The Strait of Juan de Fuca is the shipping route for all vessels coming to the Ports of Seattle, Vancouver, British Columbia and Victoria as well as numerous naval vessels whose home ports are in Everett, WA; Whidbey Island, WA; Bremerton, WA; and the Bangor submarine base.

The Sequim Police Department's shoulder patch was re-designed in 1996. In the background are the Olympic Mountains depicted with the sun shining down upon our beautiful valley. In the foreground is the new Dungeness Lighthouse, first lit in 1857 and remodeled to its current height in 1927, therefore the designation as the "New Dungeness Lighthouse." The Lighthouse is located on the Dungeness Spit, the longest natural sand spit in the United States, visible from space and home to a wide variety of animal and bird species.

As surely as the New Dungeness Lighthouse serves as a beacon of safety for the ships passing by, the Sequim Police Department also serves as a beacon of safety to those who live, work and visit our community.
