Community Safety Programs

  • Block Watch Program (Neighbors helping neighbors) – Currently 20 neighborhoods in Sequim participate in this program. Two neighborhoods have also elected to become CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Trained. CERT Training is done in partnership with Clallam County Fire District #3 which is headquartered in Sequim.
  • Operation ID – This program supplements the efforts of our Block Watch program and provides information, inventory forms and window stickers so that residents can record the serial numbers of the most commonly stolen property. Once a resident has recorded their serial numbers of electronic, cameras, computers, IPODs, tools, and other valuables then OPERATION ID stickers are provided to apply to the resident’s home windows and property to deter theft and burglary.
  • Vacation Home checks - the VIPS (citizen volunteers) will patrol homes within the City while owners are on vacation. Click here for a request form to fill out and bring into the Police Department (J.C. Penny's Shopping Plaza on Washington Street)
  • Annually a community Public Safety Fair is held at the Guy Cole Convention Center located in Carrie Blake Park during the month of October, which is National Crime Prevention Month. Each year over 1,000 citizens attend this free event.
