Streets

Among the services provided by the Public Works Department are the maintenance of approximately 50 miles of roads and alleys, including maintenance of shoulders, vegetation, crosswalks, storm drainage, traffic signs, sidewalks, ice and snow removal, street cleaning and the utilities located beneath the streets and alleys.

Funding
The Street Fund includes cost for Administration, Capital Projects, Storm Drainage, Sidewalks/Non-motorized paths, Streetscape/Landscape, Roadway Maintenance, Street Cleaning, Street Lighting, Traffic Control, and Snow and Ice Removal. Revenues for the fund come from three primary sources: Local Sales Tax Collections, Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax and the Arterial Fuel Tax. Capital projects are often financed through street fund revenues (general fund), from grants from other government agencies or through private development.
